What caught my eye about this posting was passages like this:
"Subject matter expert within own discipline/specialty area and basic knowledge of other disciplines / specialty areas. Deep technical knowledge. Applies in-depth knowledge of discipline/specialty area standards and processes to work. Integrates industry experience and deep professional/ technical knowledge. Technical leader and recognized expert on select ... technologies, systems and/or procedures."
Even if you do not have the specific knowledge of systems like SAP and BOBJ that are key for this position, use the description as a starting point for exploring other possible positions, now or in coming weeks. The passage I quoted above is mostlikely from a template of base language for positions in this category. In the future there could be other Sr. Technical Architect positions that a great match. Librarians are innate "subject matter experts."-alt-lib

This blog is intended to capture real-life examples of librarians who have found positions in alternative career paths. It will also be used to recommend job openings found on the web, that are applicable non-traditional library roles. Specifically, I mean positions that utilize our unique combination of skills in information management, customer service, research/reference/information retrieval, and analysis.
